From the video:

Liz Jeneault here with SUVs.com. I know there’s lots of interest in plug-in hybrids these days and so today, we’re getting a look at the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e. In my opinion, it’s just the right size. It’s also smooth, quiet, and luxurious. Not to mention, you can operate this 5-seater in full-electric mode! Up to 20-inch wheels are available. Love these roof rails. It’s a clean, no-nonsense SUV with a design that lots of people enjoy. Something that distinguishes this vehicle as a plug-in hybrid, though, is the charging port in the back here.

We have to thank Mercedes-Benz of Cherry Hill for letting us check out this beautiful SUV. Inside, the GLC 350e doesn’t feel like an electric car. It just feels like a traditional, luxurious Mercedes-Benz. It’s especially quiet, though! Love the wide sweeping console and all the gorgeous woodwork in here. The 7-inch freestanding color display is attractive and works well with the controller. The 2020 model year will have an even larger touchscreen display, though, so you may just want to wait for that model. A rearview camera is standard.

It’s a spacious midsize SUV with plenty of legroom. The wide track width and long wheelbase of this SUV really helps make it feel spacious.

There’s a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas engine here that’s coupled with an 85 kW electric motor. It makes for a total output of 315 horsepower combined. A 7-speed automatic transmission is used. The SUV can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds. 4MATIC all-wheel drive comes standard. Take a look at this here, you press this button and can toggle between the different modes. It is cool that you can drive in pure, all-electric mode. But, you can only go about 14 miles or so in that mode. It is a cool feature and would come in handy for people who live in the city and don’t drive far like myself, but some do wish it had a longer range both in all-electric and combined. The plug-in hybrid does offer a nice drive, though. Quiet, smooth, and nice acceleration.

Recap time! I love the woodwork in the cabin, the spaciousness of this SUV, and also that you can drive it in full-electric mode. It’d be nice if it offered more of an efficiency benefit, though. Cargo space also takes a hit because of the battery pack stored under the rear floor, so keep that in mind if you travel with lots of stuff.

The starting price for the GLC 350e is around $50,000 and I give this 2019 model an SUVs.com deal score of 89 out of 100. Thanks for watching!
