The fully redesigned 2017 Honda CR-V is a winner all around. It has won numerous ‘best car for the value’ awards and people can’t stop raving about it just like its previous years as well. With the base price starting off comparably slightly high, it’s for good reason and absolutely worth it every penny

It is well-rounded across the board; reliability, safety, with excellent fuel economy and has many new features in store this year that makes this model a top-pick. You get useful features in the base model such as Rearview Backup camera, a 5-inch touch-screen display, and Bluetooth with Voice Recognition.

It received top marks for fuel economy and has nice cargo space as well as having a fully redesigned interior that moves this model to a higher level. It seems its only flaw is in its turbo engine which lacks the power for fast acceleration that’s needed for passing cars or the like.

The base 2017 CR-V LX comes with a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, and all other trims have a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that has 190 horsepower

With the base engine being front-wheel drive, you'll get up to 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The turbocharged engine uses less fuel, getting 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. If you opt for all-wheel drive with either engine, you'll lose 1 mpg in both city and highway driving. The CR-V's fuel economy is excellent for the class.

On the downside, all trims performed similarly in their lacking of power, but its ample cargo space partly makes up for it

With 39.2 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats and 75.8 cubic feet when they're folded, there’s more than enough room to make even your tall friends and family feel comfortable and with enough space to  stretch out.

The 2017 Honda CR-V interior comes in 3 styles. Style availability varies by trim level, but the options are: Gray Leather, Black Leather, Ivory Leather.

The 2017 Honda CR-V exterior comes in 10 color variants. Color availability varies by trim level, but the options are: Obsidian Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Basque Red Pearl II, Lunar Silver Metallic, Molten Lava Pearl, Sandstorm Metallic, Gunmetal Metallic, White Diamond Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Dark Olive Metallic.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have both awarded this years CR-V with the top marks available in safety with the exception of 4 out of 5 stars on its rollover test, making this one of the safest SUVs available today.

It also come equipped with a multitude of safety features once you move up in trim  including Brake Assist, night vision, Lane Departure Warning, and blind spot monitor that all work harmoniously to make every moment you’re seated in the CR-V some of the safest possible.

Base starts at $24,045 - with the EX-L 2 WD going all the way up to $29,195.

The overall predicted reliability for the CR-V is an impressive 4 out of 5 using the J.D. Power Predicted Reliability rating which makes it a top pick in the class.

It also comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.

While some could argue that the CR-V’s base price ($24,045) is higher than some others in the same class, this is where doing your research pays off.

When you truly factor in the benefits and many features that come with Honda’s CR-V, there’s no doubt that the price tag is worth it. With the EX-L’s price tag of $29,195, it really just boils down to finding the compromise between not busting the bank and getting enough of the features you require.

While the seemingly only drawback to the compact 2017 CR-V is in its lacking of engine power and for some out there with certain requirements, it can be a definite deal breaker.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a family vehicle for city or country driving that you can also depend on, won’t hurt your wallet with gas guzzling tendencies, and in the tragic case of an accident, you can count on it to keep you and your family safe, then the CR-V can’t be a more perfect SUV for you.

With countless features, high scores across the board, an interior that’s been completely redesigned to be of higher quality making it stand out for the class. There is also a handy reconfigurable center console which gives you that extra space for small items that you don’t trust back in the cargo.

Our overall impression is a very positive one. With its fun, sporty dive, luxe interior, ample cargo space and top-of-the-line safety and reliability ratings, the CR-V might be one of the best choices you can make in a compact SUV.
