Volkswagen Tiguan - 2 Minute Review

Published May 2, 2023 by Elizabeth Jeneault

Did you know the Tiguan is Volkswagen’s most popular model here in the United States? Yep. Over 88,000 of them were sold last year! But it also did receive a refresh for 2022 — the Tiguan is now 11 inches longer than the previous generation, so it is roomier!

People like that the new Tiguan is larger than most compact SUVs, but it’s still smaller than a conventional three-row model. It’s nice to have the third row of seats available as an option.  You have the affordability factor to this vehicle, too.

It’s attractive with modern looks and LED lighting, clean lines, and the R-Line Black trim adds fierce style. There’s also an available integrated light bar for the grille.

As for the interior, it’s nice you have more space to enjoy. There’s solid cargo room. And the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit is intelligent and intuitive. You can upgrade to the larger pro display for the advanced navigation. And there’s a center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2023 Tiguan is offered with a turbocharged engine that’s paired to an eight-speed automatic. There's 4MOTION all-wheel drive available with four different all-wheel drive modes. Lots of safety features, too!

Recap and rating time now of the 2023 Tiguan!

Exterior looks sharp, 8.5. Interior is comfortable, offers room for up to seven in three-row models, and has a great digital driver display, 8.5. Performance and handling with the smooth turbocharged engine is solid, 8. Fuel economy is what you’d expect here, it would be nice to have a hybrid, 8. And overall value I’ll rate a 9.5 as it starts at just $26,950. And that results in an SUVs.com deal score of 85/100.
