Ford has introduced the new Ford Escape at the NY Auto Show and it has received a handsome makeover for 2023!
You might remember the old Escapes, I certainly do, but this 2023 model looks much better. It has come a long way since the early 2000s. I love the now wider piano black grille with chrome strip and this model features the available “coast-to-coast” LED light bar with the LED signature lighting.
There’s a new trim structure for the Escape and that includes three new sporty ST-Line models with athletic touches.
Inside, the Escape’s rear seat still slides nearly 6” to make room for taller passengers or to make for more cargo space in the back. The available Panoramic Vista Roof adds to the vibe, as does the newly available 13.2” center stack touchscreen with the SYNC 4 systems. Look at how clean it looks with the available 12.3” digital instrument cluster.
There are two turbocharged gasoline powertrains and two hybrids to choose from including a full hybrid and plug-in hybrid. This here is the plug-in hybrid model, the most fuel-efficient Escape you can get. You get up to 44 mpg city with this and it does offer a range of 37 miles in all-electric mode. It’s nice there’s so much variety offered. Ford also says it knows not everyone is ready to go all-electric just yet, and so that’s why it’s offering these hybrids.
Recap and rating time now of this 2023 Ford Escape! Exterior is more handsome, 8. Interior features beautiful new tech, 8.5. With four powertrain options we love the variety offered and so we’ll rate performance an 8. Fuel economy with the plug-in hybrid we looked at is impressive, 8.5. And overall value I’ll rate an 8 and that results in an SUVs.com deal score of 82/100.
