Aston Martin Partners With Whiskey Brand for Special DBX SUV

Published December 18, 2020 by Elizabeth Jeneault

We may have just discovered the coolest, most exclusive Christmas gift ever! You’ll need a whole lot of money to buy this gift and you wouldn’t actually have it in time for Christmas, but the limited-edition DBX SUV that Aston Martin just revealed would definitely be any dad’s dream gift to receive! That’s because Aston Martin partnered with legendary single malt whiskey distillery Bowmore on the project. Created by the marque’s bespoke division, Q by Aston Martin, the hand-built DBX is available in Bowmore’s signature shade of blue and it also features copper inlays throughout the vehicle from the copper whiskey stills themselves!

“Aston Martin DBX has provided the perfect canvas for the highest level of Q by Aston Martin customization,” said Marek Reichman, executive vice president and chief creative officer of Aston Martin. “The Aston Martin and Bowmore brands share the same vision of creating timeless beauty and a lasting legacy, loyal to their heritage but also embracing new methods and this is reflected in the DBX Bowmore edition,” he added. “Q by Aston Martin has once again created a beautiful, limited edition Aston Martin.”

If you were to buy dad a striking Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition for Christmas, you would be buying him an incredibly exclusive vehicle because just 18 special edition Bowmore DBX’s will be built before they are delivered to customers at a private lifestyle experience in Scotland!

Each of the 18 Bowmore DBX owners will be invited to an exclusive Aston Martin Art of Living experience. Guests will travel to Edinburgh where they will be presented with their own special edition DBX before embarking on a 170-mile road trip through the spectacular Scottish countryside. Owners will be treated to a three-night stay and fine dining during the trip. They will also be treated to a private tour of the Bowmore Distillery, where they’ll have the opportunity to hand-fill their own bottle of a 39-year-old, specially selected Bowmore whiskey straight from the cask! Owners will also be given exclusive access to the Bowmore No 1 Vaults, which is the oldest maturation warehouse in the world and has played host to a number of VIP guests over the years, including members of the Royal Family!

While driving and alcohol obviously do not mix, the partnership between Aston Martin and Bowmore feels natural and represents an awesome collaboration between two U.K. brands.

“Our partnership with Aston Martin continues to be an exciting and enthralling collaboration and the unveiling of this special edition Bowmore DBX is another exciting step on our collective journey,” said Francois Bazini of Bowmore. “We cannot wait to welcome each of the owners of this beautiful car to our distillery on Islay and show them all that Bowmore and our island home have to offer. Although we make entirely different products, our shared values and passion are very much aligned so you can expect more exciting announcements in the future.”

The special edition Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition takes the DBX up a notch in a number of ways. The Bowmore DBX is enrobed in a striking paint color named Bowmore Blue, for example. Customers will also have the option to choose an alternative exterior paint color if they’d like. There’s special Xenon Grey paint available as well, which displays a blue metallic fleck throughout. Again, the interior features Bowmore-branded copper inlays that are just stunning.

Customers have the option of either the Obsidian Monotone or Copper Tan Metallic/Obsidian Duotone for the interior, both of which are accented throughout by flashes of Bowmore Tweed (reflecting the company’s Islay ancestry).

“Created by the world-renowned Islay Woolen Mill, which was first established in 1883, the subtle and sophisticated design incorporates copper and blue inspired by the island’s terroir and lochs, making it inherently unique to Bowmore and its island home,” writes Aston Martin about the Bowmore Tweed used in its special edition DBX.

In addition, the interior holds many Q by Aston Martin design details like polished copper cupholders and sill plaques, which are made of recycled copper from Bowmore. The gloss black center console trim inlay features bespoke hand-laid, copper foil detailing. Each car also comes with a selection of specially designed Q by Aston Martin accessories such as a Bowmore Tweed picnic blanket, and leather holdall.

The limited-edition DBX SUV is truly unique and is bound to make any whiskey lover swoon! Just imagine taking part in that unique three-night trip after picking up the keys to your own Aston Martin DBX and driving through the Scottish countryside to wind up at an incredible whiskey distillery where you can hand-fill your own bottle of 39-year-old specially selected whiskey. It definitely would be an experience that you’d never forget!

The Q by Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition is on sale globally now and customer deliveries are set to take place in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Why The DBX is So Important to Aston Martin

While the DBX had been in the works for a while, it wasn’t launched until last year. It’s the first-ever SUV from Aston Martin and so it’s important not just because it’s the brand’s first entry in the SUV segment, but also because Aston Martin’s success is riding on the vehicle. At the start of this year, for example, Aston Martin was on the verge of collapse before several investors stepped in to inject cash, including Formula 1 billionaire Lawrence Stroll. Aston Martin sees the DBX as its saving grace.

The 5-seater DBX SUV provides a world of luxury and features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that’s tuned to deliver 542 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. While it’s certainly not the traditional Aston Martin sports car, the DBX is everything an Aston Martin should be: beautiful, hand-built, and technologically-advanced.

The special edition Bowmore DBX just makes the DBX all the more unique and it goes to show how Aston Martin is interested in further diversifying its lineup to win over the hearts of even more luxury car lovers.
