All-electric SUVs are popular for a number of reasons. People want emissions-free, fully-electric performance, but they don’t want to sacrifice on space and utility. Thankfully, fully-electric SUVs offer the best of both worlds. They have the space you need for your family, friends, and cargo, and they can also go the distance for you and be charged quickly.

We’ve put together a list of six of the best all-electric SUV options out there. Continue reading below to learn what makes them so great!

  1. Tesla Model Y

The all-electric Tesla Model Y is Tesla’s newest SUV. It follows the Model X. It’s capable of carrying up to seven passengers and their cargo.

There are some notable differences between the Model X and the new Model Y. The Model Y lacks the Falcon Wing doors of the Model X, but it’s able to have a more impressive all-glass roof because of it! The stunning roof creates extra headroom and it provides a seamless view of the sky. You’ll love the elevated seating position and low dash of the Model Y, giving the driver a commanding view of the road ahead. There’s also an impressive 15-inch horizontal touchscreen and an immersive sound system.

You can currently order long range and performance versions of the Model Y. Both are more affordable than the Model X. The Model Y Performance model is capable of reaching a top speed of 145 miles per hour and can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It has an EPA-estimated range of 315 miles. The standard range production Model Y, which is set to be even more affordable, is scheduled to go into production in 2021.

  1. Tesla Model X

If you’re looking to make an impression, look no further than the Model Y’s older sibling. The Model X is a head-turning vehicle with its Falcon Wing doors.

It’s also a quick SUV! The performance version accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds! Despite being so fast, the Model X is still a highly safe vehicle. Tesla calls it one of the safest SUVs ever. The long range plus model, meanwhile, offers an impressive EPA-estimated range of 351 miles.

You can choose to have a five, six, or seven seat interior layout with your Model X. The interior feels highly premium and the largest all glass panoramic windshield in production helps with that. There’s also the impressive 17” portrait touchscreen display that’s designed to improve over time.

  1. Jaguar I-PACE

The I-PACE is Jaguar’s first all-electric SUV and it’s a Jaguar vehicle above all else. That means it offers excellent performance and handling.

The I-PACE offers an EPA-estimated range of 234 miles and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds.

The vehicle not only performs well, but also offers plenty of space for people and things. It might have a compact footprint, but it doesn’t feel compact on the inside. The floating center console at the heart of the cabin gives you an immediate sense of the space the I-PACE offers as soon as you open the door. It’s a unique spot to store various small items. The infotainment is also impressive in the I-PACE. The Touch Pro Duo system features a 10” touchscreen integrated into the dashboard and a lower 5.5” touchscreen with multi-function dynamic dials. There’s also a 12.3” interactive driver display and an available head-up display.

  1. Audi e-tron

We couldn’t leave the Audi e-tron off our list of the best all-electric SUVs! It’s electric done the Audi way. The vehicle is quite popular and that’s exactly why Audi has been working on further expanding the e-tron lineup.

While it might not offer as long of a range as the Tesla SUVs or the Jaguar I-PACE, it’s still engineered to go the distance. It offers an EPA-estimated range of 204 miles. At a high-speed public charger, you can get 54 miles of range with just a 10 minute charge. The fully-electric SUV is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. You also have Audi’s legendary quattro all-wheel drive backing you up.

The e-tron truly is a stunning SUV both inside and out. Its exterior was designed to move like the wind, through the wind. The premium and luxurious interior, meanwhile, features high-quality leather, highly advanced infotainment, and standard heated and ventilated front seats with optional massage feature.

  1. Hyundai Kona Electric

If you’re looking for a more affordable all-electric SUV option, then consider the Hyundai Kona Electric! The subcompact SUV starts at $37,190 and it offers an impressive EPA-estimated 258 miles of electric freedom.

The subcompact fully-electric SUV is offered in three trim levels: SEL, Limited, and Ultimate. Upgrading to the Limited trim from the base SEL will get you a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, leather seating surfaces, LED headlights, and an improved driver seat. Opting for the range-topping Ultimate trim will get you a larger 10.25” color touchscreen with navigation, a head-up display, and ventilated front seats.

While the Kona is a subcompact SUV and so it might not have all the space you’re looking for, it does make make the most out of what it offers!

We should also note the Kona Electric was voted the 2019 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year.

  1. Kia Niro EV

The Kia Niro EV is another all-electric subcompact crossover. It has a slightly higher starting than the Hyundai Kona. It starts from $39,090.

The Kia Niro EV offers a combined system output of 201 horsepower and 291 lb.-ft. of torque. You can take things up a notch with the push of a button, though, by engaging the sport mode. The Niro offers an EPA-estimated range of 239 miles.

There are two different trims to choose from. The attractive interior can be further improved by opting for the available mood lighting or for the larger 10.25” touchscreen display with split-screen capability.

It’s yet another solid all-electric SUV option to consider.
