2023 Kia Niro EV - 2 Minute Review

Published December 29, 2022 by Elizabeth Jeneault

This is the all-new, second generation Niro and it continues to offer three electrified powertrains: a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and this EV with the charge port door located up front.

This 2023 Niro has a new stylish exterior. And you can get this side-blade panel here in a cool contrasting color! It helps make the vehicle more aerodynamic, and it adds some flair. The updated front end with the iconic tiger nose grille is flanked by the striking, heartbeat-inspired LED daytime running lights. The large vertical taillights are also impressive.

The interior is more spacious as the Niro’s now larger than before. Take a look at these large available screens up front! There’s also cool ambient lighting, standard wireless phone connectivity, comfortable and contemporary seats with integrated coat hangers, and more.

This Kia Niro EV gets an EPA-estimated 253 miles of all-electric range. It makes 201 horsepower. You can charge it from 10 to 80 percent within 45 minutes with a public fast charger. You can also choose to have the hybrid Niro with up to 53 miles per gallon combined, or the more powerful plug-in hybrid that adds 33 miles of all-electric driving range. A con is the Niro is only offered in front-wheel drive.

Recap and rating time now of this 2023 Kia Niro EV!

The Kia Niro is definitely more stylish, 8.5 for the exterior. Interior is now more spacious and laden with tech, 8.5. Performance is unique with there being a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and an EV, 8.5. Fuel economy we’ll rate a 9 because of that. And as for overall value, I’ll rate that a 9 because the base Kia Niro has a starting price of just $26,490. This EV model does cost more, it starts at $39,450.

And that results in an SUVs.com deal score of 87/100.
