Hi guys! Liz Jeneault here of SUVs.com, back with another 2-minute review and this week, we’re taking a look at the 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV and I want to make sure I thank Maguire Hyundai of Ithaca for having me by.
The Tucson was redesigned for 2022 and so it’s primarily a carryover for 2023. It has a great new style, I love the stealth daytime running lights that stay out of sight within the three-dimensional grille until you use them. I’m also a big fan of the lighting signature at the rear. This is the XRT trim which has the most off-road inspired vibe with features like prominent side steps, XRT exclusive cladding, and 19” black alloy wheels.
There’s lots of variety offered with the Tucson, you have many other trims to choose from and three different powertrains to consider.
As for the interior, it’s refreshingly modern! And since the redesigned Tucson is longer, there’s more room for the backseat passengers to stretch their legs. The available panoramic sunroof further opens up the interior. You can have a 10.25” center touchscreen with the 10.25” digital gauge cluster that you see here. And there’s even a special air flow system to help keep you and your passengers comfortable.
This Tucson XRT model features the standard 187 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired to an eight-speed automatic and is offered with all-wheel drive. There are also hybrid and plug-in hybrid models that offer standard all-wheel drive and are paired with a six-speed. The potent plug-in hybrid makes up to 261-hp, and can go up to 33 miles in all-electric mode.
Recap and rating time now of this Hyundai Tucson SUV! Exterior looks sportier than before, 9. Interior is more modern and spacious, 9. Performance is impressive with three powertrains for variety, 9. Fuel economy is solid with the two hybrids especially, 8.5. And overall value I’ll rate a 9. And that results in an SUVs.com deal score of 89/100!
