Hi there! Liz Jeneault of SUVs.com here with another 2 minute review and this week, we’re taking a look at the 2022 Hyundai Kona. And I want to first make sure I thank Maguire Hyundai of Ithaca!
The Kona is a small SUV, yes, but it does have a lot of great qualities including your traditional SUV capability from the available all-wheel drive and it starts at just under $21,000!
The Kona now has a bolder face and a longer profile, as well as upgraded convenience and safety tech. Inside, you’ll be surprised by how much space there is! The interior also has a minimalist, driver-centric style. And even though this is an affordable SUV, you still get nice features as standard like an 8” touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And you can upgrade that screen to 10.25” in size, which you can also do with the fully digital driver display. Some trims also have a power moonroof and wireless charging.
Believe it or not, the Kona holds its own like the big guys. Available all-wheel drive makes cornering more fun, and you can make your drive even more exciting by opting for the N Line or Limited trims, which feature a 195 horsepower 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder. An even more powerful Kona N model is also on the way. No matter the engine you choose, you’ll get solid fuel economy! There’s also an all-electric version of the Kona you could opt for instead.
Recap and rating time now of the 2022 Hyundai Kona SUV! Exterior looks good, though I feel the sporty N Line looks best, 8.5. Interior is surprisingly spacious, offers the digital screens everyone loves, we’ll rate it another 8.5. Performance for this small SUV with the 195 hp turbo engine is impressive, we’ll rate that a 9. Fuel economy is solid, 9 there. And overall value I’ll rate a 9.5, as the Kona has an affordable starting price and a whole lot to offer. And that gives us an SUVs.com deal score of 89/100.
