2022 Acura MDX - 2 Minute Review

Published July 26, 2021 by Elizabeth Jeneault

This all-new 2022 Acura MDX with seating for up to seven is now the flagship vehicle of the Acura brand and that’s just part of the reason why we’re reviewing it today. Liz Jeneault here of SUVs.com, thanks for watching our review! And I want to make sure I thank Crest Acura in Syracuse, NY for having me by.

The all-new MDX has a longer and wider body that creates a more powerful stance and more interior space. The LED lighting is stunning and you have a variety of sporty wheel options.

Inside, you’ll find three rows of seats with room for up to seven. This removable second row center seat offers easy access to the back, though that third row can feel a bit cramped. Take notice of all the premium materials used, though! A wide panoramic moonroof comes standard on all of the packages. It’s great to pair with the available ambient lighting. This interior is also now more comfortable and quieter thanks to the MDX’s redesigned chassis and longer wheelbase.

Flowing naturally with the dashboard is the widest screen to ever be featured in an Acura. It’s 12.3” in size and can be controlled with the touchpad. There’s also a 12.3” fully digital instrument display, as well as wireless charging.

The 2022 MDX uses a 290 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 that’s paired to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The MDX also features a new double-wishbone front suspension. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available. There’s also a performance-oriented MDX Type S model that has even more horsepower, it’s arriving later this year.

Recap and rating time now of this 2022 Acura MDX!

Exterior looks bold, stylish and I love the grille, 9.5. Interior feels premium and comfortable, I love the large screens, so an 8.5. Performance is solid, another 8.5. Fuel economy is not that great with just 26 mpg highway, so a 7.5. And overall value I’ll rate an 8.5.

That results in an SUVs.com deal score of 85/100.
