2020 Lincoln Aviator - 2 Minute Review

Published January 23, 2020 by Elizabeth Jeneault

I just love the sleek and sophisticated styling of this all-new 2020 Lincoln Aviator, what do you guys think?

The Aviator’s grille looks slightly different depending on which trim you get. This is the Reserve, with the chrome Lincoln logo-like shapes here in the grille. There’s also these large 20” wheels.

I’m Liz Jeneault with SUVs.com, by the way. Thanks for watching. Also, big thanks to Springfield Ford Lincoln for letting me come by.

"The Lincoln Embrace" is a wonderful set of features that makes you feel special when you approach your Aviator. Welcome lighting greets you, a Lincoln logo welcome mat is projected on the ground, and more. If you opt for the Air Glide Suspension, the SUV will even lower itself to help make getting in easier!

The Aviator also plays special chime sounds by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as you enter. Chimes are also used for vehicle alerts.

You can fit six or seven people inside the Aviator depending on the trim and configuration you opt for. But with like with many other midsize three-row SUVs, the third row is probably best fit for kids.

What’s nice is there’s this large 10.1” touchscreen with the SYNC 3 infotainment system on every trim. There’s also 4 USB ports and a WiFi hotspot. This Reserve has an improved 14-speaker audio system over the standard, but a 28-speaker system is also available! Plus, the Reserve gets ambient lighting, all these premium materials, Voice-Activated Navigation, and a 360-degree camera as standard. You can also tack on an additional head-up display, soft close doors, a Panoramic Vista Roof, and even a full rear console.

There’s a powerful gasoline option and an even more powerful plug-in hybrid. The first three trims, Standard, Reserve, and Black Label, feature the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes 400 horsepower. It’s paired to a new 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Grand Touring and Grand Touring Black Label trims combine that V6 with the all-new Lincoln electric powertrain to make a very impressive combined output of 494 horsepower!

All-wheel drive is standard on models with the hybrid powertrain and is optionally available on lower level trims.

Every Aviator also comes standard with lots of advanced safety features.

Rating time! Exterior is sleek, stylish, and modern. 9. Interior offers so much to love, with many impressive features as standard and nice seats. 8. Love the two powerful powertrain options, so an 8.5 for performance. Fuel economy figures aren’t that wonderful, though, and even with the plug-in hybrid. So, a 7.5 there. Overall value I’ll rate at an 8. The Aviator is more pricey than some competitors, but the three-row SUV does still have a lot to offer.

That results in an SUVs.com deal score of 82/100. What are your thoughts on the 2020 Aviator? Let me know!
