Here’s another three-row SUV option from Kia. No, it’s not the flashy Telluride this time around, but this is another great choice for families and especially because it’s even more budget-friendly than the Telluride.
This is the 2020 Kia Sorento and I’m Liz Jeneault with SUVs.com. I review SUVs often often, so please be sure to subscribe! Also, big thanks to Kia of East Syracuse for letting us come by!
There are five trims with this SUV: L, LX, S, EX, and SX. This is the S trim and it comes these cool 19” black alloy wheels and black roof rails. There’s also an optional panoramic sunroof and a Smart Power Liftgate.
There are lots of amenities that come standard with the Sorento. You might like how there’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also this 7” touchscreen, which increases to 8” in size with the range-topping SX. The cloth material in here is designed with special technology to help protect the seats from spills and mess! There’s also a standard rearview camera.
This S trim has heated front seats. The EX trim adds leather seating and a panoramic sunroof. The top-of-the-line SX has the fanciest features, like a Surround View Monitor.
As for how spacious this vehicle is, it’s roomy in the front two rows here. This third row is best fit for kids, though, or your dog. It’s easy to access that row with the one-touch slide-and-fold seat here. And as for cargo space, there’s up to 73 cubic feet of it.
The lower trims come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. But, this S trim and above feature this improved 3.3-liter V6. It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic and churns out 290 horsepower. It packs just the right amount of power to get you and your family to where you need to be each day, but some auto critics do say the Sorento’s engine offerings leave them wanting more power. It’s also not as responsive with turning as you’d like.
Rating time! I enjoy the black wheels of this S trim and rate the exterior as an 8. Interior is also nice with lots of amenities, but the third row is best for kids and you do need to upgrade for luxe features. So, a 7. It’s nice that there are two different engine offerings. I’ll rate performance at a 7.5. Fuel economy figures aren’t that wonderful for an SUV of this size, so a 6.5 there. And overall value I rate at an 8.5 because you do get a lot with the Sorento, but it is still so budget-friendly as I mentioned before. That results in an SUVs.com deal score of 75/100. Thanks so much for watching!
