2020 Jeep Wrangler - 2 Minute Review

Published February 28, 2020 by Elizabeth Jeneault

Alright guys, I’m in snowy Upstate New York today and so it’s pretty fitting that I’m reviewing this 2020 Jeep Wrangler! The iconic off-roader is backed up by more than 7 decades of 4x4 engineering experience and so this is a vehicle that can handle whatever is thrown its way.

I’m Liz Jeneault with SUVs.com, by the way, big thanks to the Maguire Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Syracuse, NY for having me by!

This is the four-door Unlimited Sahara, but there’s so much variety offered with the Wrangler. So, if you don’t love this aesthetic, you could always consider a Sport or the highly rugged Rubicon.

The iconic round headlamps, exposed door hinges, large tires, and the highly coveted Trail Rated badge help set the Wrangler apart. Of course, the doors are removable and this Sahara features a one-touch retractable roof. When combined with the foldable windshield, you get that truly exhilarating open-air feeling!

Inside, the Wrangler is more modern than you’d expect! You’ll typically find cloth material, but leather seating is available. While the Sport comes with a smaller 5.0-inch touchscreen with the UConnect system, 7.0- and 8.4-inch screens are available with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The 8.4” screen features embedded navigation. There’s also an available WiFi hotspot.

What's nice for off-roading is you can wash out the Wrangler's interior! And if you live somewhere cold, there’s available heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated exterior mirrors.

5 powertrain options, so plenty of variety there! The big news for 2020 is that there’s a new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 that will be available later on with the four-door models. It offers an impressive amount of torque and improved fuel economy.

The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 which produces 285 horsepower. There’s also a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Both of those come with engine stop-start, or they can be coupled with a 48-volt mild hybrid system for more low-end torque!

The highly off-road capable Wrangler offers a variety of standard and available 4x4 systems to help give you impressive traction. Skid plates protect the vehicle’s underbody. There are tow hooks for helping friends who get stuck. And the Rubicon is going to be your absolute off-road monster, should you want that.

Recap and rating time now! Exterior is fantastic! I love the one-touch roof, removable doors, and exposed door hinges. So, an 8.5. Interior is more advanced than you’d expect with such a highly capable off-roader. 8 there. Performance, I’ll rate at an 8.5 and especially because of the powertrain variety. I’ll rate fuel economy at a 7.5. And as for overall value, I’ll rate that at an 8.5 because the Wrangler always has such high resale values. And that results in an SUVs.com deal score of 84 out of 100. What are your thoughts on this 2020 Wrangler? Let me know!
