From the video:
Hey there! So, let’s say you’re a small business owner or maybe you love to go camping and you take a lot of gear with you, well this SUV has plenty of space for you. There are three rows fitting up to seven people total, and all rows are good for adults or kids. Plus, there’s a whopping 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space with all the rear seats folded down.
This is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas and I’m Liz Jeneault with SUVs.com, by the way. Big thanks to Volkswagen of Cherry Hill for letting us check out this Atlas, which Volkswagen refers to as its family SUV.
There are many trims offered, so keep that in mind with this three-row vehicle. This one here is a 3.6-liter V6 SEL version with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Love these LED headlights and LED daytime running lights.
Inside, take a look at how spacious these three rows are. This is configured with captain’s chairs here, great for up to six. But, you can have a bench if you need more space and it will even fit three carseats. I love that as a mom!
The available panoramic sunroof is also another major highlight. It almost fully stretches across the three rows and it really helps bring the outside in. This will be my first winter back on the East Coast in a while and taking a drive during a light snowfall with this thing, yea that’s something I’d like to do.
This trim comes with this fancy Volkswagen Digital Cockpit system and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. That’s the largest screen offered with the Atlas, though, wish it was larger.
It has a 3.6-liter V6 under the hood, which churns out 276 horsepower. But, if quick acceleration is what you’re after, you’ll find that even the more powerful V6 here is not as ideal as you’d hope. The base S Atlas, by the way, comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 235 horsepower. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic. This Atlas here also has 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Rating time! Exterior is an 8, it has a nice look. Interior is spacious! With this trim, you get lots of tech and impressive features. Lower trims you don’t get all of this fancy stuff, though. Remember that. Cargo space is huge! Love that. 8 for interior. Performance-wise, it’d be just fine for me but some want to see more out of it, so an 8 there. Fuel economy is not so great with a rating of 17 mpg city, so a 7 there. Overall value is an 8, I would say. You do have to shell out around $47,000 for this version here, so that’s a pretty penny for a Volkswagen. Overall, an SUVs.com rating of 78 out of 100
